I do not read political books, as a rule. I do not see the point. Are all right or left pending, which means that there is to say what I already believe or piss me off royally – So, what's the point? But I could not resist this, due in part (I admit it!) For coverage in the press about the tidbits is revealed, and also because of my continuing fascination with a presidential race that has altered the story on three fronts amazing. E 'tired of me while he was still in progress, andgreatest thing in this book is how it manages to distill all the excitement of that process of 2-3 years into something rational and highly readable. All the drama of the Democratic primary and general elections, without any of the parties deaf? Irresistible. So I went out and did something I almost never do: buy a brand new hardcover and read immediately, almost even stopping to sleep. It's that good.br / br / The main criticism of this book seems to be the extensive use ofdeep background, which means that some sources are credited. Considering the type of information presented, which is not surprising. But it seems foolish to question the veracity of the information the book contains the light of the firestorm of media has caused its release. Harry Reid would have made the national apology for the words unspoken honestly? Hardly. The book was dismissed as gossip, tabloid trash. I beg to differ. Tabloid main traffic of lies and exaggerations,after all. This is a behind the scenes in a political showdown the likes of which have never been seen before in this country or any other, written by two men whose journalistic bona fides were demonstrated. Nearly the same plane as tabloid gossip, no matter how you slice. And then – as we have all seen the fallout Edwards, sometimes tabloids get it right.br deaths / br / Heilemann and Halperin are fantastic writers. The narrative flows like fiction, and they scene sowell that reads like a screenplay in Hollywood, sometimes. (Also surprising, given the circumstances. As Jon Stewart noted the Oscars the year, usually when you see a black man or a woman POTUS, it means that an asteroid is about to hit the Earth.) However, resist any urge to dumb the book for readers in general. I must admit frankly that their vocabulary has made me run for a dictionary on several occasions. But most of the time, I was so absorbed that I have chosen simply to maintaingoing. The portraits of the major protagonists are soft and impartial. Obama is revealed as a plaintive, hands-off guy who grew sullen when things did not go his way. Clinton apparently could only deal with her campaign and her husband shake loose-cannon plunge into deep denial. Edwards is portrayed as a raging egotist who fell in love with his image and his wife – even before his fear of cancer – was a shrew paranoid. McCain has blossomed, superstitious,disorganized, and so detached from his own campaign that even his closest advisers began to question his desire to win the race. And as for Palin. . . Well, there's really nothing positive about her in the book at all, except for an interesting passage. The authors manage to keep their views, basic through most of the book, but on page 415 that actually defending Palin. "The truth was that people failed McCain Palin …. have accumulated points and polling of dollars out of itscharisma of fire, and then allowed to burn in hell for public opinion. "br / br / slander, bitterness and dishonesty are clearly something adults can expect from political campaigns these days, but there's still saying something about reading the proof. I liked it, not because this book has confirmed what I already knew or that royally pissed me off, although it has done both in spades. I liked it because it is pulled punches, and not because happenedhumanized the main actors, revealing how no news "broadcast these days he could never in reality are very human.br / br / My only major criticism of the book is its lack of balance between the Democratic and Republican field. Granted, until the arrival of Sarah Palin, the Republican race was not as interesting as what was happening across the aisle, but it would be a nice change of pace. The last half of the book feels rushed. Palin, for all the impact they hadon the campaign, does not even get an intro until we have 350 pages in a recent TV interview, one of the authors said a lot of things were left out because their editor limited to 500 pages. Well, the book is only 436 pages, and it is clear that there is a lot missing. If this were a DVD, I'd whine about the lack of deleted scenes. Full disclosure: I usually take a star off for this, but I came across on a star to help offset all the angry users of Kindle, which low-ratedAnd because the version has been delayed. This type of carpet bombing calculated sounds like something right out of the paper () pages of this book.

This could be a great book, but how do I know? It's ridiculous in this digital, electronic age that you can not access a digital version of a book immediately. I thought the idea of Kindle was to make you take the library with you, when you want and receive the book wirelessly in "moments". Well, this week is on hold, and frankly unacceptable.

What makes the campaign really fascinating, however, are the stories behind the campaigns, such as the relationship between the candidates battling for their party nominations, putting up and "merger" of the new vice-presidential candidate with the efforts of candidates of the party and always in a hurry to speed on election day. Heilemann and Halperin – two of my favorite politicaljournalists – have used their insider knowledge and extensive connections in Washington to put together an absolutely convincing and important chronicle of what went on behind the scenes during the 2008 campaign.br / br / What is particularly remarkable – more or less three weeks after publication –is that there were serious objections from any of the principles on any of the descriptions and photographs of the authors. While the book spends two thirds of its pages on the Clinton-Obama rivalry and addssubstantial color for this fight well known, what is particularly new, and its complete description of the McCain campaign – pre-and post-appointment. br / br / My main takeaway from the book is the unpreparedness of the team of McCain during the entire process. McCain himself resurrected from oblivion (in the race for the nomination) on the back of weak opponents'. Once secured the nomination, has wasted the time to nominate the party's convention. While his campaign, for example,took weeks to choose the vice-presidential candidate, was not concluded until two days before the deadline of the campaign car. The authors describe in detail how the Palin pick, freezing success on the track, and aid the selection of McCain's remorse. br / br / I recommend this book for political junkies and in fact, who enjoys a good yarn (and laughter). br / br /
