I recently purchased and start with this device. I have used other acquisition devices over the years and I like the way this device works. It 'simple and clean. I can connect up to standard RCA type (red and white), and audio output is a standard RCA type (yellow), the output video or S-Video. You can use this device to transfer old VHS tapes (such as educational videos you will never watch again on a VCR, but do not want to throw away), old movies, etc. br / br / Iresearched many other converters before you click that and my review is partly to provide a most recent revision (given the age of the product), but especially interested in helping others avoid my initial problems that almost made me return this device. The manual, which is contained in the package (and is the line itself) is not useful. Refers to the names of drivers, directory names, and some installation instructions that are incorrect. It is interesting to note that the driver update available on the website also seemsfor drivers older than those who enter the CD in the package. BTW, I'm using Windows 7 and I had no problems with this driver product.br / br / I still can not get this to capture the video through a lot of my editing programs including Nero (I'm using version 8, not 9 and won 't recognize the sound driver) and CyberLink PowerDirector 8 (which freezes). Normally, this would be a reason for a bad review, but the program that comes with the software (which is called GrabBee) worksperfectly with the setup essentially not required! GrabBee also output formats allows you to select different. I then import the captured video in any other editing program like and works well. The device comes with software for editing video on a disk labeled DVD Solution, but I'm not using since I have other higher end software.br / br / To install and configure the device, you can simply run program autorun CD and select the option GrabBee + X Deluxe. You install thedrivers and software necessary capture. I highly recommend considering this product, if you need a device.br capture /

I have several old VHS C that I always wanted to update my computer's hard disk for a reasonable price. Over the past 2 years I have been looking for an affordable and reliable product to meet my needs. This product is definitely satisfied my needs. It has been converting my VHS-C, and are impressed with the level of quality. The tapes play exactly the same way as if I was using my VCR on a TV. I have a Dell Pentium 4 processor with 1 GB of RAM and are running on Windows XP.The only problem I had was initially getting the software to install. I agree with the other feedback posted on this product that is to install the latest version of the software from Startech. You will also need to play with the settings provided with the software to get the quality that your looking for. Overall, this is a great product and easy to use.

I bought this hoping to get some nice video from old VHS tapes. The software is a bit 'confused, but I managed to get it working eventually. The quality is so-so, but I'm sure that if I had time to play with him I could do better. Could be a product is good but not as easy as I thought.
Did Not Work For Me – Loma Rica – Foothills, California
Product was sold by third parties – Tiger Direct – and was delivered as expected. Straight forward installation and configuration easy. However, the transfer of video from old VCR tapes was unstable at best, at worst unwatchable. Technical support suggested installing the latest drivers, which was done with no change in performance. No further help was offered. Very disappointed. New computer system is up and running 64-bit Windows 7.
