The other cheap 2-channel infrared helicopters are a constant source of frustration — getting them to hover is a challenge, and maneuvering is difficult.br /br /This helicopter solves all that — it is of high quality and can actually fly with stable, predictable control.br /It is a 4 channel helicopter, so you can control your throttle (up and down), rotation, and left/right and back/forward.br /It is very small and lightweight and is designed for indoor flight (only).br /br /The controller seems simple, but is actually quite sophisticated. You can put it in “beginner” mode and it will slow down the control inputs so it’s easier to control. You can trim all the controls if you get drift. It has two control “modes” — I used the default mode 2 (left stick throttle+rotate, right stick hover direction). It’s a digital controller and won’t interfere with other controllers. The controller will control other helicopters, so if you get say the blade mSR, you can get the cheaper BNF version and reuse your controller.br /br /It helps to start out slow and hover a few inches off the ground until you understand the controls. If you get drift or rotation, make sure to trim the controls so you can hover easily. Pretty soon, you’ll be taking off, flying around the room, and landing like a pro.br /br /It comes with one battery – if you don’t like waiting for it to change, you might consider another battery.

I was initially hesitant to spend over 0 on a toy, but it was money well spent. Inevitably parts will break, but replacements are easy to get, inexpensive and a snap to install. The instruction manual was intimidating at first; full of dire warnings about what you shouldn’t do and in what order you shouldn’t do it, but once I started flying it was pure excitement and fun. The helicopter flies easily. It’s very stable and responsive so if you see it heading for trouble you can prevent crashes. Just hours and hours of fun.

Like many others, I started with an IR helicopter and wanted more. The Blade mCX provides a perfect mixture of stability and speed for me. I had to make a few adjustments to get the stability that others had right out of the box, but it was fun learning how to do it. The mCX has been amazingly durable as well. I purchase it over four months ago with 4 additional batteries, a wall charger, and few additional rotor blades. I’m still on the original blades and I have had some pretty rough crashes. Overall, I am very satisfied.

I’ve had this helicopter for about 6 months. I’ve broken a few blades and one main shaft. The parts are dirt cheap and it took quite a beating before they finally snapped. The helicopter is pretty neat to play with. I have to admit, I usually get bored with it after about 30 minutes, but it’s still kind of cool. I’ve seen alternate little bodies for it, but I hear that they are kind of heavy and end up hindering the performance. For the money, it’s hard to beat the Blade MCX.
